On May 11th, I had one goal on my mind: I was going to make all the audio problems I had a thing of the past. I came to the conclusion that the reason Dazzle recorded distorted audio was because I didn’t have enough RAM for it to run properly. After buying GTA IV and Mario Kart Wii, I had just enough cash to buy a 1GB stick of RAM.
After coming home, I made the idiot mistake of buying PC2-3200 DDR instead of PC2-3200 DDR2. “That’s ok”, I said, “I’ll get it sorted out the next day.” Little did I know, my computer was slowly dying. Coincidentally, the part of my motherboard that controlled the fan short-circuited after I made it to my computer’s desktop.
Ha! Get it! My MOTHERboard fried on MOTHER‘s day!!! *nerdy laugh*
My hard-drive was safe and sound, fortunately, but I had to use another computer in the household (Vista) while I had my computer repaired. A computer is useless to me if it can’t run Vegas and Photoshop so I went back to my roots: Playing video-games without a computer next to you playing annoying MSN Messenger sounds and Skype chat sessions.
To be honest, it felt like a breath of fresh air, and dare I say it, more entertaining then what a hell hole I consider the internet nowadays.
The games that entertained me these past couple weeks are as followed:
Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Justice for All – Completed. Epic 4th case.
Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations – Completed. Great use of Mia rookie cases. Epic 5th case.
Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan – Completed Ready Steady Go on Hard. Currently on Very Hard.
Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan 2 – Completed on Hard. Currently on Very Hard.
Grand Theft Auto IV – Completed story with under 30 hours achievement. Best GTA I’ve ever played.
In between some gaming sessions, I’d chat for a bit at Meebo and check Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts news. I still had a strong urge to edit a video though. Luckily, my friend was working on a video “activity” for his Spanish cIass. I volunteered to help with the editing. You can watch it here. Keep in mind, I just edited. I had no involvement with the core script.
Anyway, on May 25th I ended the Phoenix Wright trilogy by completing Trials and Tribulations. The next day during “No School” day, I found out my computer was ready for tomorrow. On May 27th, GTA Legends, pretty much the reason why I’m started using the internet, turned 3 years old. Thanks guys.
That same day, my computer came back with a brand new motherboard installed with 2 GB of RAM as opposed to my crappy pairs of 256 MB (512 MB total to those who can’t add or multiply). My computer runs a lot smoother now. It’s amazing how I can have Firefox and Vegas running at the same time without any lag.
Oh, and the best part is, after 11 long months of waiting and torture, I can FINALLY record sound from my television. Dazzle works like a charm now. Starting now, the resolution from my videos will be seen in higher quality. I immediately started working on a new Banjo series I have had in mind for a really, really long time and a GTA IV Machinima the legendary duo of Rooster and JO have had in mind. Look out for that soon as well as many other videos I had in mind in the past 9 months.
As for gaming, I’m going to get back to Ouendan 1 and 2 and try to complete Very Hard mode. I just started playing Apollo Justice and am looking forward to completing it in the next month. Professor Layton and the Curious Village is really fun if you’re into puzzle solving. It has the atmosphere of a good PC game on a DS. Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword uses the stylus controls really well but can get repetitive at times. The World Ends with You has a good combat system but is so stereotypical, it’s hilarious. Square has got to think of better character designs, I mean, how many times have we seen the main character of a Square Enix game with giant spiky hair and/or a “I dont care” attitude? Seriously now. Oh btw, I call Neku “Sora” because I feel like it.
Now that audio works on my recording device, I can finally look forward to my hobby without anything setting me back. All hurdles are finally cleared, I just need to make it to the finish line…
