Rare was bought by Microsoft a few years back, and Nintendo let that happen. Rare kept them alive during the N64 days but Nintendo didn’t seem to care. All they care about is Mario. Banjo Threeie didn’t even see the light of day.
Because of that buy out, a lot of key Rare employees left to start their own business. I like Nintendo’s games but I can care less about the controller, name, virtual console, new IP, whatever. Nintendo sometimes has no idea what they’re doing. I mean, dropping CD’s for cartridges. Small discs for the GCN turned away a LOT of third party support. Thus loss of customers thus loss of money thus having to sell Rare just to stay alive.
