Rare Rumor – 10/14/11

Is Rare ready to make game aimed at mature audiences after five years of releasing family friendly games such as Viva Pinata, Banjo-Kazooie, and Kinect Sports?

The latest rumor says Rare is working on a game for Microsoft’s next Xbox console. The game in question will not be like Kinect Sports, but instead a game that will be suitable for ages 18 and up.

Microsoft launched their latest console in 2006, the Xbox 360, which has people speculating when Microsoft will unveil the next Xbox. Eurogamer heard between the grape vines that Microsoft will unveil the next Xbox in 2012, following a Christmas launch in 2013.

Rare hasn’t developed a mature rated game since a day after the launch of the Xbox 360.

Lionhead Studios, Fable developer, and Turn 10 Studios, Forza developer, are also rumored to be developing games for the next Xbox.

If true, what could Rare’s next game be? A new Perfect Dark title? Killer Instinct 3? A Pipsy World War 2 shooter?

TTUC will stay up to date on this rumor.
